Union promotes their magnesium buckles as twice as light and four times as strong as aluminum. The anodized aluminum heelcups are 30% stronger than non-anodized heelcups, and are indestructible. This set of bindings differs from the higher cost Union Contact Pro set in that the Contact Pro's EVA bushings are triple-zone injected (which offers close to complete dampening and lots of board flex) rather than just dual-zone, it has a 3D multi-layer strap core (which evenly distributes strap pressure), Contact Pro highbacks (which are especially light, and pro snowboarder approved), and CNC machined heelcups (which have a reduced weight design that maintains strength), all of which the Contact binding lacks. There are color options available for the Union Contact snowboard binding.
