Product Shot 1 The Pros:None. None.

The Cons:Price.

The Nikon EDG 7x42 model is a high-end binocular pair designed to provide universal use during many different activities. The price tag is set higher than most binoculars ($2780.95) because Nikon claims the EDG series binoculars provide professional grade quality to consumers.

It is worth noting that the EDG models are nearly identical in form and function except of course for the magnification and lens size. The Nikon EDG 7x42 model binoculars include a 7x maximum magnification rating and a 42mm objective lens that provide an overall field of view of 140 meters at 1000 meters away; this particular model provides the larger field of view size out of all the EDG series models. The Nikon EDG 7x42 model is also completely waterproof up to 16.4 feet for a 10 minute maximum time limit.

The Nikon EDG 7x42 model binoculars also include additional features such as specific Nikon lens technology, turn and slide rubber eye-cups, a "roof" type glass prism, a dual focus adjuster knob for both eyepieces, and a body made up of environmentally safe materials. Nikon claims the EDG series binoculars are designed with a durable body design to last in a plethora of conditions. The 7x42 is also equipped with a high eye-point view design to allow users with prescription glasses the opportunity to use the binoculars clearly as well.

What separates the EDG 7x42 model from the other series EDG models is the ratcheting eye-cup adjustments combined with the fully detachable horn-shaped eye-cups, and the O ring sealed body that is filled with dry nitrogen to help eliminate fog and keep the model waterproof.
