The 8x 42s' roof prism system features prisms that overlap closely, allowing the objective lenses to line up squarely with the eyepiece, resulting in a streamlined look and greater durability than porro systems. Their BaK-4 glass prisms provide the 8x 42s with sharp images from edge-to-edge as well as improved brightness over typical BK-7 glass. Meanwhile, the 8x 42s are 100% waterproof due to an O-ring seal and nitrogen purging, ensuring optimal performance even in fog or rain.
